Recap of August 11th Custer County Court

Custer County Court was in session on Monday, August 11th, with Judge Tami Schendt presiding. 

Jason A. Lichtenberger, age 33 of Mason City, made his first appearance on a charge of  2nd degree assault, a Class IIA felony. The alleged crime occurred on May 22nd of this year. Matt Furrow was appointed as his attorney and a preliminary hearing in the case was set for September 8th. 

Also in court for his first appearance was Virgilio Moran Rivera, age 54 of Lexington. The defendant faces two counts—assault by strangulation, a Class IIIA felony, and 3rd degree assault, a Class I misdemeanor. Those charges also stem from an occurrence on May 22nd. Derek Mitchell was appointed his attorney and a preliminary hearing was set for September 8th. 

Ethan A. Walker, age 41 of Oconto, appeared for a preliminary hearing. This case stems from an alleged incident that occurred on June 14th of this year. Walker is charged with three counts—2nd degree domestic assault, a Class IIIA felony; terroristic threats, a Class IIIA felony; and child abuse, a Class I misdemeanor.  He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and the case was bound over to Custer County District Court for arraignment on August 21st. 

Walker was also in court facing new charges. On August 7th, he was charged with two counts—possession of a controlled substance-heroin, and possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, both Class IV felonies. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and that case was also bound over to the County District Court for arraignment on August 21st. Bond was reduced to $25,000 with a 10% privilege.
