Purdum Fire Department Fundraiser and Open House Will be Held on August 8

On Saturday, August 8, at 6 p.m., the Purdum Fire Department will host a fundraiser and open house.

The public is invited to enjoy a free-will donation meal and beer garden, and bid on items up for auction at the Purdum Fire Hall.

There will also be a gun raffle with $20 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at Harsh Mercantile and Thedford Lumber and Supply, as well as during the fundraiser. The gun is a 45 auto made by Ruger and created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. It is one of only 1,776 made.

Many items will be up for auction, including a 1974 Chevrolet Pickup Truck. For details on specific items, check out the Purdum Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page

Gavin Higgins, a member of the Purdum Fire Department, spoke about what the money from the fundraiser will be used for.

“These funds don’t only go to helping you know keep these vehicles up to date, but also allowing us to house them so that they can be used at a moment’s notice…as many of us know, if you aren’t able to respond quickly enough, that can cost you know dollars, that’s buildings, potential lives in danger, and you know all these donated items and funds and everything like that has allowed us to build this climate-controlled housing, and we were able to be in a vehicle and on that fire within 15 minutes,” stated Higgins.
