PSC Approves $1M In Additional Grant Funding For Broadband Bridge Program

On Tuesday, February 1, the Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) approved an Order (C-5272) for an additional $1,445,692.07 in grant funding for the 2021 Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program (NBBP) funding year.

The grant funding was approved for Glenwood Telecommunications, Inc., for a project located in Fillmore County. The applicant was allowed to reapply to the Commission as a result of a partial challenge of the project area during the initial 2021 grant process.

PSC staff reviewed the resubmitted grant for the Fillmore County Project and found that the application as modified met all necessary criteria for approval of funding during the 2021 NBBP grant program year. The remaining $574,660.91 in grant funding from the 2021 NBBP will be added to the $20 million available in the 2022 NBBP grant cycle.

A detailed list of approved projects and funding amounts can be found on the Nebraska
Broadband Bridge Program (NBBP)
 page of the PSC website.

As part of the NBBP, multiple companies will receive grant funds in the KCNI/KBBN area to install Fiber To The Home (FTTH) including Ansley, Arcadia, Burwell, Gothenburg, Mullen, Sargent, and Thedford.
