Program Supporting New and Expecting Moms to Start Soon

Early learning program Sixpence is starting a new motherhood support program, “Mindful Moms” in Broken Bow. The program is designed to provide a safe, supportive space for pregnant moms and moms of infants from newborn to 18 months.

Mindful Moms meetings will be held at the United Methodist Church, 1000 S 3rd Ave. from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.  The program meets the first and third Tuesday of every month starting September 16.

Program Coordinator Michaela Schweitzer told KBBN/KCNI that the program is designed to be flexible for new moms’ schedules.

“You don’t have to show up at nine o’clock. You can come at 9.15, you can come at 9.30, you can come at 9.45. We just end at 10 o’clock,” Schweitzer said. “We want this to be open, so whatever time works best for you, don’t stress about getting there at nine o’clock because it can be hard to get out of the house with your baby or even with your other children, you can bring other children to this. And the goal is to just be comfortable and if you don’t have any questions come, because we learn from other parents and what they may be going through.”

The first Tuesday of the month will feature guided discussions, while the third Tuesday will be an open discussion. All discussions will be led by local experts in infant and childhood development. New and expecting mothers are invited to ask questions and make connections, building a warm, judgement-free community. Moms with questions can call Sixpence at 308-872-2982, extension 102.
