Pressey fire 75% contained, management turned over to local departments

The Pressey Fire, which burned between Oconto and Broken Bow in central Nebraska after starting this past Wednesday, is now 75% contained according to a release from Saturday evening.

Fire crews are continuing to patrol the perimeter of the fire, conducting mop-up operations to secure the fire line.

State agencies have been released and fire response is now being managed by local fire departments. Throughout the operation, the two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters that assisted from the Nebraska Army National Guard completed 82 water drops delivering 54,120 gallons.

The release extended thanks to the communities and local businesses in and around Custer County for their support and donations, again stating that crews have everything they need in terms of food and drinks, so those donations aren’t necessary at this time.
