Nebraska Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever will be hosting a series of prescribed fire workshops both in person and online.
The workshops, presented in partnership with the Nebraska Game and Parks as well as numerous other conservation partners, are geared to landowners, resource professionals, volunteer fire departments and others who may be interested in burning. No prior prescribed burn experience is needed to attend and learn the basics of applying prescribed fire to the landscape.
Upcoming In-person Basic Workshops include:
- January 27 – Thedford at the Upper Loup NRD from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- January 29 – Holdrege at the Phelps County Ag Center from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- February 20 – Stapleton at the Stapleton Community Center 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Additional online workshops will provide training for more experienced individuals:
- February 10 – 2026 Prescribed Fire Refresher from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- February 17 – Weather Forecasting for Prescribed Fire from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Training will cover topics including uses and benefits of prescribed fire, fire behavior, prescribed fire preparation and techniques, and safety. Registration for in person sessions is $10, which includes materials and lunch.
