Pictures: Heavy rains bring flood warnings to Custer County

Heavy rain began to fall Thursday morning, which led to advisories and warnings being issued in Custer County.

Flood advisories for Custer County started being issued at 12:51 p.m. and some are set to expire as late as 9:45 p.m.

A tornado watch was also issued for our listening area at 1:12 pm effective until 7:00 pm.

A flash flood warning was issued for central Custer County at 2:57 p.m. and is set to expire at 9:00 Thursday evening.

The KCNI/KBBN studios has measured 3.80″ inches as of 4:00 pm, Thursday.

Heavy rain and rapid rainfall is making travel difficult for citizens in Custer County.  NOAA reminds you to not underestimate the power of water. Six inches of fast-moving water can knock over and carry away an adult. Twelve inches of fast-moving water can carry away a small car. 18-24 inches of fast-moving water can carry away most large SUVs, vans, and trucks.
