ORD – The Lower Loup Natural Resource District (LLNRD) announced this week that winners have been chosen in their 2024 photo contest, which ran from November 2023 to May 15, 2024. The Lower Loup NRD is Nebraska’s largest Natural Resources District.

Thirty five photographers from the LLNRD area and across Nebraska submitted 330 images with subjects including wildlife, landscapes, events, sports, weather phenomena, wildflowers, recreation, architecture, and agriculture.

Cheryl Albright of Ravenna was awarded first place for a scenic image of a foggy sunrise at Annevar Park in Ravenna.

Cameron Jennings of Broken Bow was awarded second place for a winter image of an irrigation pivot with the Milky Way glowing in the night sky overhead.

DE Grabenstein of Lincoln was awarded third place for an image of a potato field west of Columbus covered with purple blooms.

Albright’s first place winning image will be printed, framed, and displayed at the LLRND headquarters in Ord, replacing the 2023 winning print by Robyn Koelling of Ord. After a year, Albright will be presented with her winning print when the 2025 top image replaces it. All three places will receive a prize package of LLNRD logo items.

LLNRD Information and Education Coordinator Alan Bartels invited the public to continue to explore and photograph.

3rd Place- DE Grabenstein, Lincoln

“From the Sandhills to scenic farms and ranchland, and hundreds of miles of streams, the photo opportunities in this area are just about endless. We hope people will continue exploring the Lower Loup NRD, with or without their camera. But they might as well bring it. We will announce the next photo contest later this year,” said Bartels.
