OCONTO, Neb. – Official results from the 2025 Oconto Volunteer Fire Department’s Blowin’ the Doors Off Barbeque have been announced. This year’s attendance hit 1,235.
The Limp Brisket team from Elm Creek took first place in overall competition after taking first in specialty (with their stuffed pork tenderloin), first in pulled pork, and second in pork ribs.

Buk-N-Pig of Kearney placed second overall after a strong cook, taking second in specialty (with their strawberry churro cheesecake), second in pulled pork, first in pork ribs, and third in the sauce category.
Cookin’ with Wood calls Hazard home. Their efforts were good enough for third place overall after placing third in pulled pork, third in beans, third in pork ribs, first in sauce, and second in beef brisket.
Twelve teams took part in competition this year including 3 Amigos BBQ, Anselmo Fire Department, Nelson BBQ, Limp Brisket, Ribzilla, Slow Poke BBQ, Double D’s BBQ, Buk-N-Pig, Halsey Hillbilly BBQ, Hooker County BBQ, Cook’n with Wood, and N2 BBQ.

Mary Johnson was the winner of the Mossberg shotgun in the raffle. Lynn Barka took home the Henry .22 rifle. The Traeger grill found a new home with Calvin Richardson. Bethany Collins won a $200 gift card from Mills Hardware, while Shelby Forrester, Jerry Kramer, Tammy Johnson, and Pam Ackerman all won $100 gift cards to the Grocery Kart.
