Oconto Fun Day Will be Full of Fun July 5 & 6

OCONTO- Fun times are to be had in Oconto for Fun Day this weekend.

There will be no scavenger hunt on Friday due to the holiday, so the celebration begins on Saturday, July 5, with the parade at 11. Line up is at 10 at the school ball field. To register, contact Sandy Eggleston at (308) 858-4400 or (308) 325-0600, or show up at the lineup. The theme this year is “Patriotism is Alive in 2025.” Dan Eggleston, an organizer of Fun Day, encourages everyone to come to the parade.

“I really emphasize the parade because that’s the highlight of the day’s activities… I really enjoy when we have a good crowd and a good turnout,” said Eggleston

After the parade at noon, there is free lunch at the community building. The meal is served and sponsored by the Oconto Boosters.

After lunch is the cornhole tournament starting at 1:30. To register, contact Mason or Mikayla Heath at (402) 660-2756 or (308) 325-5898 or show up by the bleachers along Grand Avenue. It is a double-elimination tournament with registration costing $10 per team. The Lemonade Shack will be on Grand Avenue at this time as well.

At 1 p.m. are the critter races with turtles, toads, and salamanders. At 2 p.m. are the races, egg and balloon toss, and ping pong ball drop. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

At 6:30 p.m. is the Alumni Banquet at the community center. The public is invited to attend as well. To end the day, there are fireworks at 9 p.m. in Downtown Oconto.

Sunday, at 10 a.m., is the 4 person golf scramble. Contact Amy Oxford at (308) 870-0885 or Dick Eggleston at (308) 880-0609 to register. Lunch will be available to those who call ahead of time to arrange.

Dan Eggleston urges everyone to come to Oconto, whether they want to participate in activities or not.

“Fun Day is a time to renew old appliances. Sit in a lawn chair and visit. We’re not going to push you all day with activities. There’ll be a lot of things to do, but if you don’t want to do anything except talk to your old friends, then you can just do that for hours,” stated Eggleston.
