NSAA Speech Judge’s Week Begins Today

LINCOLN – The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) has designated this week, January 9 through 14, as NSAA Speech Judges Appreciation Week.

The week will highlight various pieces of the NSAA Judges’ Workshop earlier this summer, supplemented with video from the conference. Schools involved with the NSAA’s speech competitions are encouraged to support their judges by reading an appreciation script prior to all competitions and sharing their thanks on Twitter with #NSAARespectTheJudge and tagging the NSAA.

“The NSAA and our member schools will be making a special effort to show our appreciation for our speech judges this week,” said NSAA Assistant Director Taryn Retzlaff. “Nebraska has phenomenal arts programming and activities like Speech that are an integral part of a student’s high school experience. Without the passion and commitment of our judges, we would be unable to provide these opportunities to students across the state.”

Speech judges are only one of the officiating bodies the NSAA plans to highlight as the school year commences; officials for winter activities will be highlighted later this month starting the week of January 23, spring officials starting the week of April 3, and music judges the week of April 17.
