NSAA designates week of April 3 to celebrate spring officials

LINCOLN – The Nebraska School Activities Association has designated this week, April 3 through 8, as NSAA Spring Officials Appreciation Week.

The weeklong campaign will highlight different facts and findings from a 2022 NSAA Officials survey as well as video highlights from the 2022 NSAA Officials Summit.

Member schools are encouraged to get involved throughout the week by reading an appreciation script prior to all games and sharing their ceremonies by tagging the NSAA on Twitter with the hashtag #NSAARespectTheRef.

NSAA Supervisor Nate Neuhaus says the importance of officials cannot be overstated because of the crucial role they play in helping high schoolers have a well-rounded 4 years. “Extracurricular activities are an important part of the high school experience and without officials’ commitment we would be unable to provide these opportunities for thousands of student-athletes across the state.”

The NSAA will conclude its 2022-2023 Officials and Judges Appreciation Weeks later this month with Music and Journalism Judges Week starting April 17. Those interested in learning more about becoming an NSAA official can do so through the NSAA’s website.
