NPPD sending crews to help OPPD restore power in wake of Wednesday weather

COLUMBUS – Nebraska Public Power District is sending a 24-member crew to provide mutual aid to Omaha Public Power District to assist with power restoration efforts in response to Wednesday morning’s severe weather throughout that area.

According to a release from NPPD, the crew is made up of technicians from throughout the NPPD service area, including Aurora, Creighton, Norfolk, Kearney, Plattsmouth, South Sioux City, and York.

The crew is currently assisting with outages in the following communities: South Sioux City, where 404 customers lost power, Geneva, where 38 customers lost power, Creighton, where 40 customers lost power, Oakland, where 16 were without power, and Norfolk, where 56 customers were affected by the outages.

As of 4 p.m. this afternoon, power to all but 6 customers in Norfolk had been restored.
