BROKEN BOW, Neb. – A ribbon cutting was held next to Highway 2 in Broken Bow on Friday to welcome a new business to the community. Broken Bow Dental owner Casi McLeod sliced the ribbon in front of the recently-opened office with friends, family, and community members looking on.
McLeod grew up on a farm in Elm Creek and her family now has pasture and farm ground in Oconto. She said she never put her return to the area on a timeline, but the opportunity seemed right.

“I always knew I wanted to come back to Broken Bow,” said McLeod, “I didn’t know when that opportunity would arise so I’ve been practicing in South Dakota for a few years and I just stumbled across this building and it seemed like the perfect fit and there was really minimal renovations that we had to do.”
Before earning a degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine in Arizona, McLeod said her journey in dentistry began because of a conversation with her high school calculus teacher. She had been looking into the medical field unsure of what to pursue when her teacher, whose wife was a hygienist, asked if she had considered dentistry.
“So I started shadowing and just meeting with different dentists and asking about what they enjoyed about it, the pros and cons. It’s a flexible lifestyle, I knew I always wanted a family,” said McLeod.

Broken Bow Dental officially opened their doors on May 14 after what McLeod said was overall a small amount of renovations to the former Nebraskaland Chiropractic building. During a tour of the building she pointed out two exam rooms ready for seeing patients, offices, an x-ray room, and rooms holding crown production and dental cleaning equipment. The front waiting room even sports a small crawl-through opening for kids with toys, a comfy chair, and TV inside.
McLeod said that she enjoys being able to be there for patients of all ages beginning with their very first tooth, with a list of services well into the double digits that includes cleaning, whitening, fillings, veneers, clear aligners, bridges, crowns, extractions, root canal therapy, and even Botox. Right now, she has an assistant and a receptionist on staff and hopes to have a hygienist on staff soon.
Broken Bow Dental is open Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM and Fridays from 8 AM to Noon. Appointments can be made online at BrokenBowDental.com or by calling 308-767-2002.
