Nebraska Extension hosting cow feeding webinar series, winter stocker tour in January

Nebraska Extension has announced two educational events that will take place later this month: the Fundamentals of Feeding the Cow webinar series and the UNL Winter Stocker Tour.

Fundamentals of Feeding the Cow Webinar Series

Set for Monday and Thursday evenings, the four session webinar series is focused on understanding how the cow’s nutrient requirements change throughout the year and how to cost-effectively meet a cow’s needs with grazed or harvested feed. The course was rated as above average or one of the best educational opportunities available by the over 100 participants that took the course last year.

Dates for the webinar are: January 27th and 30th; February 3rd and 6th from 7:30 to 8:45 CT

Topics to be covered include:
– What impacts a cow’s nutrient requirements and how they change throughout the year
– How to read and understand a feed test analysis as well as a feed tag. What do the numbers mean?
– When comparing feed options, which is the best buy when all things are considered?
– What are things to consider when developing a year-round feeding plan?

The webinar course costs $65 and includes a notebook of Extension resources. It is also limited to 40 participants. Registration by January 17th will ensure resources are received before the series begins. A computer and internet connection will be needed to participate.
