UPDATED: Due to extreme cold temperatures on Saturday, BBPS has announced that the Bow Invitational Speech Meet will start at 9:00 AM, rather than 8:00, as previously scheduled.
Twenty-four schools will be bringing their best speakers to Broken Bow this weekend for the Bow Invitational Speech Meet. In the neighborhood of 500 student competitors, coaches, parents and other supporters will be in town for the event.
Students from Central Nebraska and beyond will compete in events from Duet Acting to Humorous Prose, Poetry, and Persuasive speaking.
According to BBPS Music Instructor and Speech Coach Morgan Harms, “Regular season tournaments help us gather feedback to develop and hone our speeches so they are conference and district ready, in hopes that those events qualify for State.”
The recently completed re-build of the BBPS Middle School/High School was crucial in being able to bring in so many schools for the competition.
“We are very excited to host a tournament,” said Harms, “not all schools have the facilities and admin support to do so. We’d love spectators to come watch our students perform.”
The public is invited to watch students compete. With many different genres of dramatic, humorous and informative acts being put on throughout the day, there is sure to be an event for every interest. The Bow Invitational Speech meet will kick off at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 24 at the Broken Bow Middle School/High School. Information and the schedule of events for each participating school can be picked up in the BBPS District Office Lobby.
