NORTH PLATTE – The 2023 North Platte Community College raffle car, a 1972 Pontiac Le Mans Sport, will spend the first week of July traveling to four area communities, including Broken Bow.

The ’72 Pontiac will park itself on Broken Bow’s city square from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 6, which also marks the city’s annual Crazy Days celebration. The appearance will give Broken Bow residents a chance to enter the car raffle; only 10,000 tickets will be offered, and cost $10 each.

Proceeds from the raffle will be used for scholarships for students in the college’s transportation programs and to help offset the cost of producing next year’s project car.

In addition to purchasing tickets in-person at vehicle showings, those interested can buy them at MPCC welcome centers on every one of the college’s campuses, including Broken Bow’s.

The car will also be part of the festivities during Culbertson’s 150-year celebration. It will be on display during the community’s car show from 2-5:30 p.m. on July 1.

Over the Fourth of July, the Le Mans will be at the city park for the car show in Sutherland from 8 a.m. to noon. From there, it will travel to Grant and be set up from noon to 5 p.m. in the city park.

The Le Mans is the 18th raffle vehicle produced by the college’s Transportation Division. It was restored by students in NPCC’s Automotive Technology and Auto Body Technology programs.

Among the Pontiac’s many features are an LQ4 6.0L engine, 4L80 transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, a Kilduff Shifter, and a Ford nine-inch, clutch-style Eaton Posi differential.

The car is painted in PPG Lightning Blue, boasts a custom hood and front valance, and comes with air conditioning and cruise control amenities.

It will continue to tour the state throughout the summer, making appearances at car shows, parades, and cruise nights. A schedule of appearances can be found here.
