The public is invited to toss on their cowboy hat and head to Merna on Saturday as the annual Heritage Days festivities continue. This year’s theme is Midwest Mardi Gras.
The schedule of events continues tonight (July 5) at the One Box Convention Center in Broken Bow for the annual A-M Foundation Banquet. Social hour begins at 5:30 PM.
Saturday’s rundown starts early in the morning and ends with fireworks in the sky. A fun run and walk kicks off the day, followed by a free pancake feed at the school. The commons area of the school also serves as the parade registration location and headquarters for lineup.
Starting at 9:30 AM and running into the afternoon are craft vendors and a street fair. The parade starts down main street at 10 AM.

Plenty of friendly or intense competition is scheduled for the afternoon, including a pedal tractor pull, basketball skills challenge, a men’s softball tournament, putt putt golf, a dunk tank, races, games, bingo, and more.
Those looking to refuel can stop by the community center from 11 AM to 2 PM for lunch. Dinner plans include the alumni barbeque at the city park, followed by the fireman’s watermelon feed at the ball field.
The firemen will also offer the evening’s entertainment with the annual fireworks show starting at 10 PM, also at the ball field.
