Since 1972, councils of the Knights of Columbus have sponsored a Free Throw Championship for boys and girls from the ages of 9 to 14 to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
The Loup City Free Throw Contest sponsored by the Knights of Columbus takes place Sunday, January 11 at 1:30 PM at the Loup City Public Schools. Boys and girls will compete in their age groups in a fun and friendly afternoon of competition and show off their free-throw skills
The competition will also be stiff. Last year’s 2024 – 2025 Nebraska State Champion in the 9-year-old age group was Loup City’s Loklan Setlik, who shot a perfect 25 of 25 at the Grand Island competition.
