The Lower Loup Natural Resource District (LLNRD) is hosting its 5th annual photo contest with entries due Friday, May 15.
The Lower Loup NRD is looking for a wide variety of photos taken in the district. Photos can include nature, wildlife, agriculture, recreation, people, and conservation activities. Images taken within the LLNRD’s Pibel Lake and Davis Creek recreation areas, and the LLNRD Arboretum in Ord, are of special interest.
Alan Bartels from the LLNRD says they are open to all pictures.
“We don’t have any strict rules on what people can send,” stated Bartels. “Whether you got a phone or a real camera, hope you’ll go explore our district and send us some beautiful photos.”
Photos can be sent to [email protected] by midnight May 15, 2026. Winners will be announced in June 2026. There are no limitations on when the photos were taken.
Photographers will retain the ownership of their images, but by submitting photos, entrants grant the Lower Loup NRD potential use of images in social media, website content, other digital use, and in printed materials.
The photo contest began in 2022 and Bartels says it is used as a way to get people outdoors.
“Really the reason we started it: we just want people to go out and explore our district,” said Bartels.
The Lower Loup Natural Resource District is the largest of the 23 districts in Nebraska. It covers about 10% of the state with over 5 million acres. For more information about the Lower Loup NRD go to LLNRD.org
