Live music returns to Broken Bow square Thursday night

The fall season will be welcomed with live music in the Broken Bow square Thursday night as a part of the Market on the Square event put on by the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce.

Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Stephanie Grafel started by mentioning the success of the square event so far in 2023.

“We’ve had a really nice crowd. We changed the hours this year to 3:00 to 7:00 trying to give our community members that extra chance to be able to come out and enjoy the vendors after work. This year we’ve had 39 different vendors come to our market. Some of them have only been there once or twice but a lot of them have been there throughout the season.”

Although this isn’t the last week of the Market on the Square, Grafel told KCNI/KBBN that it will be your last chance this year to catch live music.

Downtown Nowhere is going to be performing. They’ll be there from 5:30 until 7:00. I know that they played for the Muddy Creek Celebration. I think they were one of the bands that was there before Rascal Martinez played, so they’ve played several different venues. Really looking forward to having them on the square.”

Self-described as a “conglomeration of musical interests between small town friends,” Downtown Nowhere has been keeping busy through the summer. Recent Nebraska shows on their schedule have included Parks, Mason City, and Ansley for the annual Muddy Creek Celebration.

Leading up to Music in the Square will be the regularly-scheduled Market on the Square, which starts at 3:00 pm, running through the end of the live music performance at 7:00 pm. Next week’s September 14th Market on the Square is the last for the 2023 season.

Grafel and the Chamber encourage you to grab up your lawn chair and bring your dancing shoes to the square on Thursday night for Music in the Square.

“I know if you come down, you’ll just get your socks knocked off with this group,” said Grafel.
