Kicking Off 2024 with the Libraries Latest for January

BROKEN BOW – Every month the Broken Bow Public Library hosts a multitude of fun events, and January is no different.

The Teen Advisory Board will be meeting on January 3 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The Library is hosting a Jigsaw Puzzle competition where you and your teammate are invited to complete a puzzle in the library while the library staff records your time. The time will be recorded and the fastest teams will get to take home half the prize money from their team category and earn a chance to compete at the Central Plains Library System Event. For 2 people, the cost is $20 and you get to pick a 550-piece puzzle, and for a team of 3-4 people, that cost is $30 and you get to pick a 1000-piece puzzle. This will be happening the whole month of January.

For the little kids, Tots and Toys are on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. with Lapsit Story time being on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. for kiddos aged zero to pre-k.

The Evening Book Club will be reading “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus and the book discussion will be held on January 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Homeschoolers Explore STEAM will be on January 18 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. This is for any homeschooled child aged five and up. You are invited to call the Library to sign up.

Something for the whole family to enjoy is “Family Fort Night” on January 18 from 5:45-6:45. Families are invited to camp at the library and you are invited to bring a flashlight and blankets for fort materials. The library will be supplying tables, chairs, books, s’mores, and campfire crafts. Signing up is required.

For teens grades 6th-12th, the Library is hosting “Candy Olympics” on January 19 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The library is also hosting a puzzle exchange for those who are just looking for a different puzzle. You are invited to bring in your nice, used puzzles on January 23 by 5:30 p.m., and pick out a “new puzzle” between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. on January 24.

On January 26, a chili cook-off is taking place. This is a free-will donation and all proceeds will go to Healing Hearts and Families. This contest is free to enter and free to taste. You are invited to RSVP by January 24 if you wish to compete.

Lastly, the “Take a Break Book Club” will be meeting on January 30 at noon and will be discussing “Thursday Murder Club” by Richard Osman.
