The annual rummage sale to benefit the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary is scheduled for April 13th – 17th at the Broken Bow Municipal Building. The public is asked to donate items that are clean and in good condition for the sale. Items will be collected at the Municipal Building on Sunday (4/13) from 1-5 and on Monday (4/14) from 8-6. Auxiliary President Jan Doggett was a guest on KCNI’s Public Affairs and shared the need for volunteers to assist with this year’s sale.
“We’re going to set up on Friday afternoon. The maintenance guys are going to bring all of the stuff from the Melham garage and we start to set up the tables and everything and get everything lined up that day. Sunday at 1 o’clock if people want to start bringing their stuff I’ll have the volunteers take their stuff in and then at 1 o’clock on Thursday is when we start packing things up…so between 1 and 2 on Thursday would be a great time to help.”
Doggett said that all of the proceeds raised during the sale will benefit the healthcare scholarship fund and improvements at Melham Medical Center.
“100% of the proceeds from the sale go either to the hospital or to the scholarships for kids going into the medical field and we have already had that meeting so the scholarships will be handed out during honor night.”
The auxiliary works closely with the Melham Medical Center and current President and CEO Kyle Kellum to identify some of the needs of the hospital. Doggett noted that some of the recent donations and funds have went toward furniture for the emergency waiting room.
This year’s sale will take place on Tuesday (4/15) and Wednesday (4/16) from 8-7 and on Thursday (4/17) from 8-1.
