The owner and operator of the Market and Mill in Anselmo, Jessi Chandler Mason, has been honored with the Center For Rural Affairs Citizenship award. The independent grocery store award was announced in February. The Center for Rural Affairs presented the award at the store on Tuesday, April 22.
Ms. Mason received the award for testifying in support of Nebraska Legislative Bill 1116 in the spring of 2024 and working with the Center on advocacy for the bill. The Citizenship Award is given to an individual or individuals who actively participate in the civic process of creating public policy, and who work closely with the Center to advance public policies that strengthen family farms, ranches, and rural communities.
