Voices of praise will be raised on December 6 and 7 for the Sandhills Choir’s annual Christmas Cantata.

Performances of the musical setting titled “God is With Us” will be presented at the United Methodist Church, 1100 South 3rd St in Broken Bow at 7:00P PM on Saturday, December 6. An encore presentation will be held at the Broken Bow Middle School/High School Performing Arts Center on Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 PM.

Director Lance Bristol spoke with KCNI/KBBN about the Cantata. Bristol said the pieces include both original and traditional religious music.

“Some of them are original pieces, but many of them mix in the traditional Christmas carols with it in a little bit different setting. Our last piece that we sing is Silent Night. I was so impressed with this arrangement of Silent Night that we’re doing, it’s a beautiful arrangement. So people will recognize a lot of this music.”, said Bristol.

Singers young and old from around the area are a part of the choir this year, including at least one from north of Thedford.

“We have about 45 people singing in a choir this year,” Bristol said. “The majority of them come from Broken Bow, but my sister and I come from Ansley. We have a guy who comes from what we call the old Flatbottom community, which is south of Ansley. We have people from Merna, and now we have one from Brownlee.”

Performances of the Sandhills Choir Christmas Cantata are free and open to the public.
