LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen announced that the statewide burn ban will expire at 11:59 p.m. tonight, Thursday, April 20.
Initially, the order was put into place late last week to reduce the risk of wildfires. The ban was re-issued on Monday, as high winds and dry conditions persisted.
The newly signed Executive Order 23-07 will shift the authority to waive open burning back to local fire chiefs. A copy of the order is attached.
