The community of Broken Bow turned out for a good cause on Friday, October 3 for KCNI/KBBN’s Gourds for Good fundraiser.
The total raised through selling decorative squash so far has been tallied up. On October 22, KCNI/KBBN presented members of the North Park Inclusive Playground Committee with a check for $1,805.
According to Playground Chair Jessica Gibbons, October has been a big month of giving for the organization, and community support is continuing to grow. Gibbons estimates the group is currently about half-way to the objective needed to begin buying playground equipment.
The next big event for the Inclusive Playground is likely to be a Silent Auction and Pancake Breakfast in December or January, though an exact date has yet to be set.

In the meantime, KCNI/KBBN General Manager Dave Birnie picked the last of his crop before the fall’s first frost this week. While how he will use his gourds for good next is still being determined, Birnie says to keep an eye out for bespoke-decorated birdhouses produced by himself and Get Up & Go Breakfast Show co-host Brent Apperson.
