BROKEN BOW – Gateway Motors of Broken Bow presented Melham Medical Center with a $3,000 check Thursday morning on the Get Up & Go Breakfast Show. The money was gathered through October car sales during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Three representatives from each business joined KCNI/KBBN on the Get Up & Go Breakfast Show for the presentation. Chris Armstrong, General Sales Manager for Gateway Motors, explained that the process of making the donation had several moving parts.

“A portion of proceeds for every vehicle sold went to this cause and also in October to make sure that it was a big cause we gave away vacation cruises for two for every vehicle sold,” said Armstrong.

The Gateway Motors and Melham Medical Center connection was made again this year for a simple reason, Armstrong said: We’ve all been touched or affected by cancer in some way.

“Cancer, as we said, it touches everybody. We have an exceptional team here to be able to take care of folks, and unfortunately if that happens we’re here and we’re ready to take care of you and get you on to a higher level of care if that’s needed,” said Kyle Kellum, CEO of Melham Medical Center, “We’re just fortunate to be able to be here in the community and be at the community’s disposal.”

Kellum said that the hospital just developed a new three year strategic plan, and that plans always involve the need for new equipment which the Gateway Motors donation will be utilized for.
