GATES- On Sunday, June 8, the Gates Community Center will host the Gates School Reunion and Community Meeting starting at 1 p.m. A pork tenderloin dinner will be served for $7 per adult and $4 per child ages 6-12 years old. Children under 6 are free. Following the dinner, the community center will hold its annual business meeting. Everyone is welcome to participate in the dinner as well as the meeting.
The Gates Community Center has a rich history in Custer County. It served as a meeting place for people from Broken Bow, Anselmo, and Sargent for many years. Although the Gates post office and school have closed down, people still use the Gates Community Center. The facility continues to host youth and adult recreation, meetings, and family events on a regular basis.
The community of Gates is grateful for the ability to maintain the center’s usefulness to people of the local area while keeping rental fees affordable. They appreciate all who have supported the effort. They know that many people still feel some special connection or kinship to the school or the community, and they invite all to join this event.
