Game and Parks bringing back crowd favorite this Friday: Community Fishing Night

BROKEN BOW – Nebraska Game and Parks will be bringing back a summer tradition to Broken Bow’s Melham Pond this Friday: Community Fishing Night. The event will take place between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, July 7.

Community Fishing Night is free for all ages, but participants aged 16 or older need a valid fishing permit. No experience is necessary, as trained instructors will be on hand to assist anglers of all skill levels.

In addition to expert advice, Game and Parks will provide a trailer complete with rods, reels, and bait to borrow. The trailer also has all of the current NGPC Fishing Guides, Fishing Forecast pamphlets for Nebraska’s Public Fisheries, and other literature available.

Game and Parks is always looking for volunteers for Community Fishing Night. Those interested in helping out at Melham Park this Friday should contact Harold Fankhouser at (308) 238-1017.

The trailer will also ensure copies of the Common Fishes of Nebraska identification guide are available, which provides information for more than 60 species of fish throughout the state. A flyer for Community Fishing Night is attached.
