Flu shot clinics continue through the rest of October

Loup Basin Public Health Department (LBPHD) is winding down on their clinics, scheduled around this year’s flu shot.

The clinics will be finished by October 25, so to ensure that everyone gets their shots, LBPHD will be visiting Arnold, Burwell, Callaway, Dunning, Greely, Merna, North Loup, Sargent, Scotia, St. Libory, St. Paul, Taylor and Wolbach.

In an interview at the beginning of their clinic schedule Jolene Gydesen told KCNI/KBBN that

Jolene Gydesen told KCNI/KBBN about the clinics and what people need to bring with them when they come to the clinics.

“For those that are coming to any clinics, we do ask for them to bring their insurance cards if they are insured. So then we send it out to your insurance, which most insurances will pay the full amount. Otherwise, if you are under-insured, uninsured or have Medicaid, we do ask for a fifteen dollar donation if able, but we will not turn anybody away from the flu shot.”

Gydesen also said that the flu shot is recommended for most of the population, but some ages are higher risk for complications if they should get sick with the flu.

“The flu shot is recommended for everyone six months of age and older. Individuals who are at high risk are those 65 and older, those who are pregnant, and people with certain chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease; and then also children that are younger than the age of five. Especially children younger than the age of two, they are at a high risk of complications with the flu.”

Loup Basin will be in Greeley, Wolbach, North Loup, Scotia, Burwell, Arnold, Callaway, Dunning, Merna, Sargent, Taylor, St. Paul, and St. Libory.
