The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for North Central Nebraska and the Sandhills for Friday. The Watch goes into effect Friday from Noon-8pm CT.
Thursday brings elevated to near critical conditions, as RH values remain low with poor overnight humidity recovery into Friday.
Near critical to critical conditions are expected Friday afternoon and evening, with winds gusting up to 45 mph in some locations across north central Nebraska and the Sandhills.
Very dry fuels with gusty winds will support rapid fire growth and spread over the next few days.
