Extreme Heat Warnings, Heat Advisories blanket much of the state Friday through Saturday

The National Weather Service continues to release information regarding the dangerous heat arriving late this week. Hot temperatures will arrive Friday and Saturday, with daytime highs in the upper 90s and low 100s.

The entire KCNI/KBBN listening area is either in an Extreme Heat Warning or Heat Advisory beginning late Friday morning lasting through Saturday evening. Heat indices in the area could reach as high as the 105-107 degree range.

A frontal boundary will arrive on Sunday and bring relief to the Sandhills but hot temperatures are likely to linger for southwest through north central Nebraska.

This level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Consider cancelling outdoor activities during the heat of the day. Groups considered more vulnerable than most to these heat levels include those who are pregnant, newborns, children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses.

NEVER leave anyone alone in a closed car, drink plenty of water (even if not thirsty), and wear loose-fitting light-colored clothing.
