Extension to Offer Pesticide Training to Custer County

CUSTER COUNTY – The Nebraska Extension Office in Custer County will be offering pesticide training and certification throughout the county in late January into early February, according to a release from the Custer County Extension Office.

The private pesticide training will be available for farmers and ranchers who need to renew their certified private pesticide applicator’s license or would like to become certified for the first time. Certification is necessary if a producer intends to purchase or deploy any restricted-use pesticides.

Training times, dates, and locations are as follows: Ansley will host the training at their Community Building at 7 p.m. on January 30, Sargent’s will take place on February 2 at their Community Building at 1 p.m., and Callaway’s workshop will take place on February 7 at the Callaway Senior Center at 1 p.m. as well. Broken Bow’s pesticide training will occur on February 9 at 1 p.m. in the 4-H Building, and the final training will occur at 1 p.m. in Arnold’s Legion Building.

In order to become certified, producers will be expected to pay a $50 recertification fee for study materials and training, and will then be billed by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture an additional $25.

If a producer would like to attend, but cannot, online options will be available, or certification can be completed in another county’s training program. Preregistration is required by calling the Custer County Extension Office at (308) 872-6831.
