Events planned as Custer Christian School approaches end of first school year

An entire school year has almost been completed for the new Custer Christian School (CCS) in Broken Bow. The private school is inviting the public to join them for an open house on Tuesday March 25 and a Gala on Saturday March 29.

Board members James Clang and Melody Doss joined KCNI/KBBN on the Get Up & Go Breakfast Show recently to make several announcements in addition to the two events coming up this month.

One announcement was the reduction of tuition rates at the school.

“It’s something we felt was important for community and Custer County. To provide not only a Christ-centered education, but affordable. We don’t want the cost to be something, if a family wants to participate, we don’t want the cost to be a deciding factor,” said Clang.

Four full-ride scholarships were also recently donated to be used for students that would like to attend CCS in the 25-26 school year.

The two stated that the gala will serve as one of the main fundraisers for the school. Tickets for the event are $50 a person or $400 for a table that seats eight at the One Box Convention Center in Broken Bow. A social hour and silent auction will begin at 6 PM and the meal and live auction will kick off at 7 PM. Those wishing to purchase tickets can contact the school at 308-767-2096.

Pastor Noah Tyler from Westmark Church in Loomis will speak at the Gala about Christian schools and their role in communities.

“I think a really important perspective to have is that there’s no ‘one size fits all’. When we look at the kids we have, you don’t parent them exactly the same. You don’t educate them exactly the same. You don’t expect the same things from them at the exact same time. Kids develop differently and they need different support systems,” Tyler explained.

Those who haven’t seen the inside of the school yet are also invited to an open house taking place this Tuesday starting at 5:30 PM at the school on South 6th Avenue in Broken Bow. Board members and teachers will be present to answer questions and converse with along with refreshments.
