Energy providers, speed limits among City Council business for Tuesday night

Broken Bow City Council will meet tonight at the Municipal Building on South 10th Avenue starting at 6 PM.

Council will hear an update from Darren Marten to open the meeting after consent agenda items. Marten oversees the streets and parks departments.

In new business, council will consider the approval of Todd Trost to the Broken Bow Airport Authority Board for a term that would conclude in December of this year.

Ordinance 1305 will be the next topic on tonight’s agenda, regarding a franchise fee on energy providers that operate in the city of Broken Bow. The ordinance would establish a fee on every natural gas company or those leasing or managing a natural gas plant or system that delivers natural gas to customers inside Broken Bow city limits. That fee would be $0.0085 per therm of natural gas delivered.

Should ordinance 1305 be approved, council will have the consideration of ordinance 1306 which regards granting Black Hills Nebraska Gas the authority to operate within Broken Bow. Possible public hearings, readings of the ordinance, and consideration of the ordinance itself are on the agenda.

Ordinance 1307, a speed limit implementation of 40 MPH for all of Memorial Drive east of Melham Medical Center, will be considered last. If the speed limit change were to be made, it would extend to the corporate limits of the city.
