BROKEN BOW – Broken Bow Lodge 1688 has chosen Healing Hearts and Families, a local nonprofit, to receive the $2000 Spotlight Grant from the lodge through the Elks National Foundation (ENF).

According to Elks member Nancy Sedlacek, “The money was greatly appreciated, as donations have decreased with the current economic times.”

Healing Hearts and Families serves many families throughout fourteen counties.  The families may be in financial turmoil, struggling with housing or food, or in domestic violence or abuse situations; whatever the crisis, Healing Hearts and Families is there to help.

The Elks also held a Flag Day ceremony Tuesday morning outside the lodge.

Kevin Cooksley and Leonard McKenney, both veterans, raised the flag as other members and guests watched.
