Elks Lodge Awards Scholarships To Students During Annual Reception

Throughout the year, the Broken Bow Elks Lodge is involved in many youth-oriented events and activities. As the 2021-22 Lodge year ends and a new Lodge year begins, the Annual Scholarship Reception was held- a culmination of the Lodge’s good works.

Over $4,500 in scholarships and awards were given away strictly from Lodge dues and donations. The guest speaker during the reception was Levi French, a Broken Bow native and graduate who chose to return to Custer County Nebraska. Levi attended college in Texas, and with many other offers in his field of engineering as he graduated, decided that quality of life and happiness in his hometown was a higher priority than other life choices.

62 Americanism essays were read and judged, and cash prizes were awarded to the top three essay winners. Five Broken Bow Lodge Most Valuable Student Scholarships were presented, two Broken Bow Lodge Past Exalted Ruler Scholarships, three Broken Bow Lodge Officer/DOES Service Scholarships, two Neuman & Mildred Harris Scholarships, and one Broken Bow Lodge Vocational Scholarship were all gifted to area High School Seniors.
