Winter and its cold temperatures are right around the corner, and the Broken Bow Elks Lodge #1688 coat drive aims to make it a little bit warmer for those in the community. Their 9th Annual Winter Coat Drive began this past Thursday (October 10), with the goal of exceeding donation numbers reached in years past.
Paul Loy told KCNI/KBBN that the Elks Lodge greatly appreciates the partnership they have with drop-off point hosts, the Custer County Chief, as well as the location where the community can pick up items, Community Connection.
This year’s winter coat drive runs through January 2nd of 2025. Loy said the drive originally began with children’s sizes but has grown to be much more than that over they years, which the Elks Lodge loves.
Donations requested for this year’s winter coat/clothing drive include scarves, coats, caps, gloves, socks, snow pants, boots/shoes, and monetary donations. They are then made available at no cost to the public at Community Connection on the North side of the Broken Bow square.
