Area youth ages 8-13 are invited to compete in the Broken Bow Elks Club Annual Hoop Shoot.
Sunday, December 7, the Broken Bow Elks will be hosting the basketball shoot-out at the Broken Bow Schools Activities Building from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.
The national Elks Hoop Shoot program has been ongoing for more than 50 years, though the competition originally dates back to 1946 when Frank Hise organized a playground free-throw contest in Corvallis, Oregon. The focus on free throws leveled the playing field so that differences in height or speed no longer mattered.
The top scorers in Sunday’s free-throw contest for each age group will win prizes and advance to the State competition, with the further opportunity to shoot at the National level.
