December has been a month of giving for Gateway Motors Auto Group in Broken Bow, as two different organizations so far have benefited from charitable contributions from the dealership.
Gateway Motors kicked off the month with a $500 donation to the North Park Parent Teacher Association. According to Gateway Dealer Principal Thomas McCaslin and Executive Manager Todd Anderson, the school donation was their first year of involvement in a program through Chevrolet that is likely to continue for years to come.
“This year was Broken Bow, next year we will choose another one of the schools in the county,” said McCaslin. “Because you know, we don’t just serve Broken Bow – we serve a big area.”

For a third year in a row, Gateway donated a percentage of their proceeds to the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in support of breast cancer awareness. In all, nearly $15,000 have been donated to help the Melham Medical Center defeat breast cancer over the past three years.
Anderson and McCaslin said that early challenges to their business were overcome in large part due to the unbelievable local support of the community. Whether through direct contributions or by supporting the work of community organizations such as the Custer County Foundation and One Box Pheasant Hunt, the pair are constantly looking for ways to give back.
“We’ve always felt very blessed by the community support that we’ve had,” said McCaslin. “And without that, we wouldn’t have anything. We wouldn’t have the dealerships that we have, we wouldn’t have the employees that we have, so on and so forth. So we like to give back to those that have given to us.”
