BROKEN BOW, Neb.— Hotdogs were sizzling and giveaways were disappearing off a table at the Trotter’s Whoa & Go location in downtown Broken Bow on Thursday as a result of several reasons to celebrate. The location recently had a renovation completed and is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The Broken Bow Chamber was on hand to present a GROW Award in recognition of Trotter’s investment in their business and therefore the community.

Terina Trotter said the renovation resulted in the inside of the store being closed for about six week span.

In addition to Trotter’s celebrating 25 years at the downtown location, Sinclair is celebrating 110 years and had giveaways on site

“It’s lighter, it’s brighter,” said Trotter. “And that was our goal, was to lighten it up and give it a new facelift and a new look. We hope everybody enjoys it.”

She added that since the location was purchased 25 years ago from Dean and Jack Gracey, there hadn’t been any major updates made until now.

A back wall that has the kitchen on the other side was moved out two feet, allowing for more than a single file walkway for kitchen staff. New counters from register to kitchen give staff plenty of space to work. The project was truly floor to ceiling, with other upgrades including tile flooring, paint, lighting, and ceiling tiles.

“We have a main island now where you can get all of your drinks and get your snacks and that sort of thing,” Trotter said. “It just makes it a lot more convenient to grab and go.”

The downtown Broken Bow location at the center of Thursday’s celebration was the third Whoa & Go location to open, following Loup City and Scotia. Following a recent purchase of Dad’s in Burwell, Whoa & Go locations will total 11.
