Precious Angels Daycare Center in Broken Bow gave visitors a walkthrough of their new addition at 604 S. H street Thursday afternoon.

The former Berean church building was acquired by PADC last spring, with a vision to renovate the facility into an expanded daycare center for the community. Various contractors have been working vigorously since the new year began, and while there’s still much work to be done, owner of the daycare Mary Shaw told us they are hopeful to begin moving things from their present houses by early spring.

Donations from various childcare groups will provide a good start in PDAC’s new facility

“My husband’s goal is to have everything, construction-wise, done by the end of March, and then we’ll be able to start moving everything in and setting up.”

Shaw said their goal is to have everything moved in by the end of the school year. The expanded space the former church offers will allow the daycare to serve up to 150 children, a substantial increase from the current limit of around 85 little ones.

”There are times that it’s questionable whether or not we can fulfill the need now, so just having that capability will be huge for us.”

Shaw said having more space will enable scheduling to go a lot easier, and the number of rooms the new facility has means each age group will have their own space.

”The littles will be downstairs, they’ll have their own area, they come up for lunch, they can go outside. It’s just the scheduling is going to be a lot better, it’s going to be a little more cohesive with everything.”

A multi-purpose gym will host numerous activities besides sports

Shaw said right now she has 14 employees to cover her two houses in Broken Bow and two more in Callaway. As the number of children they’re caring for increases, they’ll be looking for more caretakers to balance the staff-child ratio.
