Broken Bow City Council will meet Tuesday night (August 25) starting at 6 PM at the municipal building on South 10th Avenue. The meeting is open to the public.
Following the consent agenda, Council will hear updates from Electric Superintendent Blake Waldow, Water/Sewer Superintendent Ryan Jones, and Emergency Services Department Head David Baltz.
New business considerations will begin with a public hearing and then decision on approving the signing of an application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds totaling $53,000.
Council will then have consideration of deeming the September 8 Custer County Foundation 35 year celebration on the square as a special city event.
A lot split at 953 East South E Street and an administrative subdivision matter at 1027 and 1031 Husker Lane in Broken Bow will each have public hearings and consideration by council.
Resolution 2026-18, which would authorize the City Administrator to close a City of Broken Bow EMTs bank account at Nebraska State Bank, will be considered next.
City Administrator Dave Schmidt will open bids for surplus city property approved for sale at the meeting earlier this month.
A 3.5% cost of living adjustment for all city of Broken Bow appointed employees for the 2026-2027 fiscal year will be considered for approval as well on Tuesday night.
Public hearing opportunities and discussion will continue on the proposed data center ordinance, which was first discussed at the City Council level on August 11 and before that at the Planning Commission level. Another public hearing will be held on Tuesday before an opportunity for council to waive two more readings of the ordinance and approve it or not waive the readings and not make a decision yet.
Council will consider a resolution to invest surplus funds in a certificate of deposit at Nebraska State Bank during Tuesday’s meeting as well before closing the meeting with consideration of accepting a bid for a new wheel loader to be used by the street and parks department.
Tonight’s meeting will close with comments from the public, mayor, and council ahead of adjournment.
