The Custer County Sheriff’s Office recently wrapped up their participation in the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) ‘Put the Phone Away or Pay’ event, which provided grant money to departments for added patrol time.
Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond said in an interview earlier this month that the department wasn’t trying to cause citizens to pay necessarily, but that reminders would at least be a part of traffic stops.
Results of the extra-hours campaign for the Custer County Sheriff’s Office were as follows:
– 83 total citations issued
– 59 speeding citations
– 4 minor in possession of alochol citations
– 1 ‘no seatbelt’ citation
– 1 ‘improper use of a child protective restraint device’ citation
– 1 possession of marijuana, less than 1 ounce citation
– 1 possession of drug paraphernalia citation
– 1 subject was arrested on a felony arrest warrant
– 94 traffic warnings issued
– 177 total contacts made by traffic stops
