Custer County Salvation Army extending bell ringing one week, seeking ringers

The Custer County Salvation Army has announced an extension to the 2024 bell ringing season. Instead of Christmas Eve, volunteers can now sign up to ring bells through the 31st of December.

Recent colder temperatures have been an obvious hindrance to bells ringing as often this year. The extended forecast shows temperatures that should be more favorable for ringers to help bring in donations, of which 90% stay in the county to support local Salvation Army programs.

After no bell ringing on Christmas day, the online sign-up sheet offers volunteers one hour long time slots from 10 AM to 8 PM each day (excluding Sunday) at both Grocery Kart and Tractor Supply in Broken Bow. A third rotating location includes the City Cafe, Bonfire Grill, Tumbleweed Cafe, and Crackerjack’s Sports Bar & Grill.
