Custer County Historical Society to Host Historical Bus Tour

The Custer County Historical Society encourages community members to come discover Custer County’s past by attending its upcoming “Historical Bus Tour”.  The event begins on Thursday (4/23) evening with an informational session at the Custer County Historical Museum which will provide historical significance and background of the sites that will be visited during the actual tour which is scheduled for Saturday April 25th.  During KCNI’s Public Affairs, Tammy Hendrickson, who will serve as tour guide, shared some of the Custer County locations that will be visited during the tour.

“Yes, and this area will each we’ve done a multiple of different tours throughout the county. This tour will cover the Comstock to Westerville and Comstock to Sargent to Gates. That’s the kind of area.”

The cost for the full event is $50 which includes lunch during Saturday’s bus tour.  Hendrickson said that the conversation and information provided by those attending the tour has always added to the tour experience.

“Yes, because, you know, the conversation or the camaraderie that happens in that bus, and they get to talking about, well, I went over here, it was just over on this side, or I remember we had our horse named this. And so they have that little extra piece in the bus that those little stories add into. And through these different ones, I have also learned that not everything is written down in history.”

If interested in attending this year’s tour, one is asked to contact the Custer County Museum at 308-872-2203.
