Custer County Court was in session on Monday, July 7th, with Judge Tami Schendt presiding.
Making her first appearance with a court-appointed attorney was Genevieve M. Soland, age 43 of Fairmont, Minnesota. On May 17th, the defendant was charged with four counts – possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a Class IV felony; possession of a financial transaction device that wasn’t hers, a Class III misdemeanor; possession of marijuana of one ounce or less, an infraction; and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction. Soland’s preliminary hearing in the case was set for August 18th.
Trev A. Paulsen, age 28 of Broken Bow, appeared for arraignment. Paulsen is charged in an amended complaint with two counts–disturbing the peace, a Class III misdemeanor, and terroristic threats, a Class IIIA felony. Matt Furrow was appointed to represent the defendant and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 18th.
Also appearing for an arraignment was Ethan Walker, age 41 of Oconto. His case stems from an alleged incident that occurred on June 14th of this year. Walker is charged with three counts—2nd degree domestic assault, a Class IIIA felony; terroristic threats, a Class IIIA felony; and child abuse, a Class I misdemeanor. The court appointed Matt Furrow as defense attorney and a bond review hearing was held. Defense requested a reduction in the bond that was previously set and the State objected. Judge Schendt left the bond at $50,000 with a 10% privilege and set Walker’s preliminary hearing for August 11th. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the Custer County Sheriff.
