Several criminal cases came before Custer County Court Judge Tami Schendt on Monday, February 26th.
Cooper Brass, age 24 of Broken Bow, was arraigned and charged with 1st Degree Sexual Assault, a Class II felony, and Procuring for a Minor, a Class I misdemeanor. His bond was set at $150,000 and his preliminary hearing was set for March 18th.
Jeremy Burnett, age 46 of Gaylord, Kansas, was arraigned on a felony charge–Terroristic Threats. Burnett requested and was granted a court-appointed attorney. He will appear for his preliminary hearing on March 18th.
Duane Sutton, age 49 of Broken Bow, appeared before the court and pled no contest to the charge of 3rd degree assault. Sutton was ordered to pay fines and costs.
David L. Barnhill, age 39 of Broken Bow, appeared for his preliminary hearing. Barnhill is charged with four counts: Resisting Arrest, a Class IIIA felony; first offense DUI, a Class W misdemeanor; Obstructing a Peace Officer, a Class I misdemeanor; and Careless Driving, an infraction. Barnhill’s case was continued to March 18th.
Chase L Boutin, age 46 of Hastings, also appeared for his preliminary hearing. Boutin was charged earlier this month with four felonies–Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person; Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony; Terroristic Threats; and Being a Habitual Criminal. Those charges were all dropped and Boutin pled no contest to 3rd Degree Assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor. He was credited for days served and was ordered to pay fines and costs.
