Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering Returning to Comstock for Year 17

COMSTOCK – The 17th Annual Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering will be rolling through Comstock on Saturday, November 5 starting at 1 p.m. and will go throughout the evening.

The day session, held at the Westcott Baptist Church, will be an afternoon of “Western Lore and Legend” until 5:45, after which a donation-priced supper will be served by the church youth.

Evening performances will start at 7 p.m. and feature poets and storytellers from all about the high plains and surrounding cowboy country: Jean Prescott of Ovalo, Texas, Marty Blocker of Cody, Nebraska, Yvonne Hollenbeck of Clearfield, South Dakota, and R.P. Smith of Broken Bow, to name only a handful.

After the reading and yarn-spinning, a pie auction will conclude the day. The price of admission is as free as the prairie wind, and all proceeds from the supper and pie auction will benefit the church Youth Group’s Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox project.
